Commercial mussel washers, also known as mussel cleaning machines, are specialized foodservice appliances designed to quickly remove sand, algae, deposits, and other debris from the outer surface of the shells.
Bivalve shellfish are valued in many international cuisines for their delicate flavor and versatility. This type of equipment is particularly useful in establishments that prepare them regularly or in larger quantities. In French cuisine, they are used for traditional moules marinières, in Spanish gastronomy for seafood paella, and in Asian cuisines for soups, wok dishes, and fried specialties.
During regular processing, these machines significantly reduce preparation time and limit labor-intensive manual cleaning. Our range includes three electric models with batch loads from 5 to 18 kg and hourly outputs from 75 to 250 kg.
After the container is filled, a rotating disc with nylon brushes sets the load in uniform motion. During rotation, the shells come into contact with the brushes and the rough cleaning belt fitted around the inner wall of the container. This process gradually removes sand, algae, deposits, and other surface debris.
A solenoid valve supplies water throughout the cycle to rinse the contents and carry loosened debris through the drain. Processing time is set using the digital timer, while the clear lid allows visual monitoring. Once the cycle is complete, the cleaned batch is discharged through the front outlet.
When choosing a machine, it is important to distinguish between the load per cycle and hourly output. Batch load indicates how much can be placed in the container at one time, while hourly output represents the quantity processed over repeated cycles. The right model therefore depends not only on total daily demand but also on the volume that must be prepared during peak service periods.
Countertop model LCF-05 has a 5 kg batch load, an hourly output of 75 kg, and a cycle time of approximately 90–120 seconds. Its compact dimensions make it suitable for operations with lower processing volumes or limited workspace.
Floor-standing model LCF-10 processes a 10 kg batch per cycle and delivers an hourly output of 150 kg. Its approximate cycle time of 120–150 seconds is suitable for regular medium-volume preparation.
Largest model LCF-18 offers an 18 kg batch load, an hourly output of 250 kg, and a cycle time of approximately 150–180 seconds. It is designed for busy operations that need to process larger quantities in less time.
Operation requires an electrical connection, a water supply, and a suitable drain connection. Sufficient space should be provided for loading the container, emptying the machine through the front outlet, and accessing internal components during cleaning.
The smooth AISI 304 stainless steel container with rounded internal edges provides easy access for washing. The rotating disc and inner cleaning belt can be removed without special tools.
Floor-standing models LCF-10 and LCF-18 can be paired with the BFD-ST stainless steel filter container. This optional accessory is positioned beneath the front outlet to collect solid debris from discharged water.
The clear lid helps limit water splashing and provides visual control throughout the cycle. All models are equipped with a lid safety microswitch. LCF-10 and LCF-18 also feature a microswitch on the front outlet that stops operation when opened.
